I teach European Portuguese language and culture as a native speaker, and I have a passion for languages. I use English and Spanish as support languages. I'm patient, and my sessions are relaxed and tailored to each student, combining official materials with my own. We work as a team, with support at every step of the way. From everyday conversations to deeper discussions, we can dive into any topic.

Like Portugal's traditional trams: one line, five stops. Tap a stop to see what each level makes possible, or take the free test below for a quick estimate.

A quick test can't replace a conversation. The trial lesson includes a proper level check.

Lessons from a plan that you don't use carry over to the next 4 weeks and then expire. Cancel or reschedule up to 24 h before a lesson and it goes back to your balance; later than that, the lesson counts as given, and a new booking uses another lesson. You can cancel your plan, or switch between 4 and 8 lessons and between 55 minutes and 1h25, whenever you like: a cancelled plan stops at the end of the 4 weeks you've paid for, and a switch applies from your next payment. Going away? Ask me by email to pause your plan for up to 3 weeks, once per cycle: your lessons stay valid for that much longer. Manage my plan →

It's one language, but pronunciation, everyday vocabulary and some grammar differ, for example the use of tu and where pronouns go. For living or working in Portugal, learning the European variety from the start saves relearning later.
Portugal's nationality law requires applicants for naturalisation to prove sufficient knowledge of Portuguese, by a test or a certificate. The 2026 reform (Lei Orgânica n.º 1/2026) also requires knowledge of Portuguese culture, history and national symbols, and of citizens' rights and duties and how the State is organised. As far as we could confirm (latest check: August 2026), the regulation setting out how this will be tested had not yet been published, so always check the official requirements. Private lessons can include preparation for the CIPLE (A2) exam, one of the certificates most commonly used.
Private lessons are fully tailored, with much more speaking time. Groups bring more people to talk to and the energy of learning together. Both can be combined; the trial lesson helps decide.
Lessons are online, by Google Meet. All that's needed is a computer, tablet or phone with a camera, headphones (recommended) and a stable internet connection. On a computer it runs in the browser, with nothing to install. On a phone or tablet, the free Google Meet app works best (on some devices it also opens in the browser). No Google account is needed: just type a name and I'll let you in. Private and trial lessons are paid when booking. I'm in Lisbon, and the booking page shows the available times in the local time zone. The Meet link is sent by email.
The waitlist form asks for the days and times that work (shown in the local time zone), the commitment (1, 2 or 3 months), the frequency (once or twice a week) and the session length (55 minutes or 1h25). When 3 people at the same level with the same session length can make the same time, I send an email suggesting it, and the whole cycle is paid once the group is confirmed. Sessions are on weekdays between 08:00 and 19:00, Lisbon time.
All prices are in euros and are final prices, taxes included. Cards in another currency are converted by the bank, which may charge a fee.
Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before the lesson. After that, the lesson counts as given, and a new booking is paid (or uses another lesson from the pack or plan).
Group and Tertúlia sessions can't be moved or refunded: the session goes ahead with whoever is there, so a missed session counts as held. The session materials are still shared with the whole group.
“Ora bem” is what people in Portugal say when it's time to get going. From absolute beginner to polishing a C1, a good place to start is a 35-minute trial lesson.
